Objective
Students will analyze the significance of Dorset as a setting.
"Afterward" takes place in "Dorsetshire," an old name for Dorset, England. The isolated, rural nature of this beautiful area, its history, and its reputation for spectral activity make it an excellent setting for a ghost story. This lesson acquaints students with key features of Dorset and asks them to consider the type of story that might be effectively set here.
