Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Kayley's and Tevy's feelings about their father in the story titled "Three Women of Chuck's Donuts." The sisters' father leaves the family after having an affair and fathering other children with his mistress, a terrible betrayal of the girls and their mother, Sothy. The mysterious man who begins coming into Sothy's donut shop in the early morning hours reminds Kayley of her estranged father, and when the girls finally engage the man in discussion, Kayley reveals some of her anger towards her father.
