Setting Sketches
Based on the descriptions of Westros and the Seven Kingdoms in the novel, create a map that illustrates the setting of the novel.
• This activity may also be completed as a shoebox diorama, if time and materials allow.
Group Cliffhangers
The chapters in the novel tend to end as cliffhangers. Create a "progressive story" with a group of three or four classmates that ends each section of the story with a cliffhanger. Start by having one member of the group create the exposition of the story. Pass the page to the next member of the group to add the inciting force. The next person should create the conflict, then the next the rising action, the crisis, the climax and so forth until the story reaches a resolution.
