Lesson

In her novel, Annie uses play therapy as a way to help Ben work through and deal with the things that happened to him as a baby. In this section, students should learn to better understand the functions and uses of play therapy.

1) Power Point Presentation: Divide class members into groups of two or three. Have each group research the ways in which psychiatrists use play therapy in their work with small children. Each group should prepare a 10 - 15 slide presentation in which they present their findings.

2) Tools of the Trade: Each student should bring to class one item that could be used in play therapy. Students should explain why they chose the item they did as well as they way in which it could be used to help a child through play...
