Objective

Lesson
1) Library research: Have the students research the author, Bess Streeter Aldrich. Explore the other works she has written, as well as her background. Take a look at biographical information and critiques of Aldrich's work to gain information on her writing and where "A Lantern in her Hand" fits in with her other novels.
2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Aldrich and her canon. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Aldrich during their presentation. At the end of the presentations...
