Take a Walk

Group into pairs and walk outside, weather permitting. Each person discusses either how you might respond similarly or differently than Lewis in one of his reflections. You may use personal experience or imagine how you would act and feel. Walk for ten minutes. Return to class for open discussion.

Role Play

Divide into teams of two to four students. Act out a scene from the book.

Jeopardy

Assign a game show host and three panel members. Create four to five categories, such as "H.'s Deathbed" or "Lewis and Sons." Each remaining student will write one answer/question, with students assigned to categories. Play Jeopardy. Rotate panel members, if desired.

Death Notice

Write a death notice for H. as you imagine Lewis would write it at the beginning of the book and at the end.
