Have each student design a new cover for the book, and then vote on the best one in the classroom.

The Note to Your Parents

Have each student write a note like Pete did to his parents, explaining why they're running off with the Preacher Man.

A Schedule of Revivals

Have students do some research to find out what other revivals are going on in the country today, if any.

Famous Preacher Men

Have students profile at least three famous preachers, including any famous speeches they've given, books they've written, etc.

Going to Church

Have each student attend one church service to see what it's like, if they don't already know. Have them write up a report about what they experience.

Casting the Movie

Have students cast the parts of the characters with famous actors and actresses of today for a movie.
