The Duchess' Costume Ball

Invite the students to have a costume ball in class. Even if they don't dress in costume, teach them the protocol of such an event. How do the guests enter? How are they announced? Who dances with whom?

Fashion Design

Show the fashions of the late 1800's in Europe. Students can either research in books or online. Display them on a board. Give extra credit to students who are either willing to make their own drawings or to those who come up with fabric samples.

Sell it

Create a front cover for a book jacket including a picture, the book title and the author's name. On the back jacket, there needs to be a short synopsis of the story without giving away any of the juicy details.
