Lesson 1 (from Part I (Chapters 1 - 2))
Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the teenagers' contempt for their parents, and the reason behind these feelings, in Part I. Eve and the other teenagers despise their parents to the point that they do not want any of their peers to know whose parents are whose, so they create the "parent game" to try to conceal parental identities from each other. Millet makes it clear to the reader why the teenagers dislike the parents so much - the parents are selfish, undisciplined, and completely uninterested in their children to the point of neglect.
