• This book is written in the past tense and from the first-person perspective.
• In Chapter 1, Eve was a teenager who was spending the summer with her parents and a large group of her parents' friends and children at a house on a lake in what she described as a "summer country."
• Eve and the other children had almost free run of the place as the parents drank heavily and mostly ignored the children.
• The age range of the children was from about six years old to much older teenagers.
• The children had a game they called the "parent game," during which they all tried very hard to conceal the identity of their parents from the other children.
