Dave Lim is a police officer in the canine unit of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department. His dog, Sirius, was a bomb-detection dog. At the time of the first attack, on Tower One, Lim and Sirius were in Lim's office in the basement of Tower Two. Lim left Sirius in his kennel when he went to help with the rescue effort in the other tower. Lim was in Tower One when Tower Two collapsed, but he believed Sirius was safe because he was in the basement. Then Tower One collapsed and Lim was stuck in a fourth-floor stairwell with other police and fire officers for several hours before they were rescued.
