Under the patronage of Edward IV, William Caxton sets up the first English printing press at Westminster. Among the roughly one hundred books he prints over the next fifteen years are Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1477) and Sir Thomas Malory's Morte Dartbur (1485).
