Ten people are killed and many more wounded when a bomb is thrown during the Preparedness Day parade in San Francisco. Thomas Mooney and others involved in the labor movement on the West Coast are arrested. Mooney is sentenced to death; in 1918 his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. He was pardoned in 1939.
