Appropriation: A sum of money designated to fund or be spent on a specific project.
Draft cards: From the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s, all males had to register for the draft upon turning eighteen. After registering, an individual received a draft card that contained a draft number. A lottery system was used to determine which available males would be "drafted" —required to serve in the military.
