Jim Parker is a deputy U.S. marshal from Salt Lake City who came to Oklahoma City to debrief and counsel his fellow marshals following the bombing. Among the missing was a U.S. marshal, identified only as Kathy. Eight days after the blast, rescuers finally found her body. Parker described how eight members of the U.S. Marshal Service removed Kathy's body from the pit. Her body was placed on a gurney and covered with the American flag. Rescue work stopped while she was wheeled out and rescuers removed their hats and saluted as her body passed by.
Marshal Service personnel lost two family members to the bomb. A child and a wife of two of our employees died in this tragedy. It was like we had all lost two of our own family members.
