Emperor Go-Daigo of Japan successfully overthrows the Kamakura shogunate, but his subsequent actions provoke civil war.

Togon-temiir becomes the last Yuan (Mongol) emperor of China. During his reign his anti-Chinese policies provoke frequent rebellions, and in 1368 he is forced to flee to the steppes of inner Asia, clearing the way for Ming dynasty rule of China (1368-1644).
