In March 1995, Jonathan Schmitz, 26, appeared on the Jenny Jones Show to meet a secret admirer. Although Jones producers insist that Schmitz knew his admirer could be a woman or a man, Schmitz was shocked and embarrassed when the admirer turned out to be a his gay neighbor, Scott Amedure, 32. Three days after the taping, Schmitz took a twelve-gauge to Amedure's home and fired twice at close range into Amedure's chest.
