Until 1959 the Cleveland Indians, playing in their huge stadium, held Major League attendance records, but in 1959 things changed. The Los Angeles Dodgers, while waiting for their new stadium to be built, played some of their games in the Los Angeles Coliseum. For their home games in the 195.9 World Series against the Chicago White Sox, the Dodgers drew crowds of 92,394; 92,560; and 92,706. Gate receipts totaled $277,600, a three-game record.
