Journey
George makes a physical, emotional, and mental journey through this film. Since the movie chronicles his entire life, the viewer is able to see George grow from a young, selfish boy into a strong, wise, caring man like his father. As George moves through the different states and theaters, we see that he learns a lot, even though he remains a difficult person to work with. However, after he begins creating his own productions, George's former weaknesses are his strengths, making him a strong leader both on and off stage.
Additionally, George's growth is marked through the newspaper articles that keep tabs on his progress. With each success, George becomes more famous but not more arrogant.
