Hidden Identity
Michael's hidden identity is the secret that the movie is constructed around. Through his experience portraying a woman, the themes of the film really shine through to the viewer. The whole world seems to be turned upside down for Michael after he begins pretending to be the woman Dorothy Michaels.
Michael finds that the most difficult part of having a hidden identity is all the lies that you are forced to tell. He becomes upset after falling in love with Julie because he either risks his job or her love.
