Horse Race
The setting of the film centers on horse races, where the men plan to pull off the perfect crime. From the very beginning, viewers realize that these races are imperative to the plot of the film and to the goals of the characters. With each race, we learn more about the characters. The first race allows us to be introduced to all the characters and learn more about their lives. We know what jobs they have and how they will likely relate to the plot before the first half hour is over. During the second horse race, we actually see the crime as they are doing the deed.
