The cinematography in The Green Mile is spectacular. The film is shot in such a way that it almost seems like a fairy story, but viewers are also drawn back to reality by the gritty way of life in the cell block and the dangers the men face.
There are several times where the camera either pans or shoots a close up to make a point or add emphasis. For example, when John heals Paul, viewers are suddenly up close and personal with the situation so that we not only know exactly what is going on but also so that we realize the importance of the situation.
