The Dance Scenes
As Shadow of a Doubt begins, viewers see a couple dancing. We don't see their faces, but we hear the music and see the bottom part of their bodies. Although we don't know it yet, this will be one of the most important scenes of the film.
The dance scenes are symbolic of Uncle Charlie's guilt. They replay throughout the film, and after viewers learn the details about the Merry Widow Murderer, there is no doubt that Uncle Charlie is the guilty party. The scenes continue to play throughout and remind viewers of his guilt.
