Coffee Cup
After Alex and his mother, Madame Sebastian, discover that Alicia is spying on them and their colleagues, they decide to poison her slowly so that her death will appear to be natural. At first they simply lace her coffee with a drug. While they must trick her into drinking it the first time, they later continue to drug her coffee more obviously.
The idea of drugging Alicia comes from Madame Sebastian. We see that the coffee cup symbolizes an evil plan by those who would oppose freedom and equality. We also see that Alex still has little nerve. He cannot seem to do anything without the support and encouragement of his colleagues and his mother.
