Unsolved Murder
An unsolved murder is what gets the entire film moving. When Laura (actually Diane) is murdered, Mark must get involved in the investigation and as he questions Waldo, the whole story begins to unfold. Waldo tells how he met Laura and the circumstances surrounding her life and death.
The unsolved murder also leads them to Shelby who knows that Laura is still alive since he was with Diane but who refuses to say anything since he doesn't want to implicate himself in her murder. As the plot thickens, Laura, who is supposed to be dead, appears in her living room.
From that point on, the murder is solved, and we discover that Waldo is actually the killer. The unsolved murder is the catalyst for the story and helps to reveal the story and the accompanying themes. Many films start the same way since the motif can quickly...
