Sam's Hat
Sam's hat is symbolic of her personality - her lease on life, her openness, and her ability to deal with life's unexpected turns. Sam is forced to wear the hat so that her company will keep insurance on her. Since she has epilepsy, her company feels that she must take the proper precaution of wearing a "helmet" to keep her safe.
