Andrew Largeman, played by Zach Braff
Description
Andrew Largeman is the main character in Garden State. After being away from home for many years, Andrew finally returns from his successful acting career in Los Angeles to come home for his mother's funeral. When Andrew is home for the funeral, he meets Sam, and she helps to change his life.
Later in the film, we find out that Andrew was forced to go to boarding school by his parents, especially his father, after he decided that Andrew was a danger to the family. Andrew's whole life was changed by a quarter-inch of plastic on the dishwasher latch that broke. When Andrew pushed his mother out of anger at her depression, she tripped over the dishwasher and was paralyzed for the rest of her life.
