Identity as a Theme in "Walking Naked" and Other Literature
Summary: The title of "Walking Naked" by Alyssa Brugman refers to the ability of one's self to be a geniune and authentic person. The inability to do so inevitably leads to one's downfall. This theme is also explored in the Disney TV series "The Weekenders" and in the poem "The Face in the Glass" by Dale Wimbrow.
The statement, `There is more enterprise in walking naked' is undeniable. Walking naked refers to being an individual by showing your true colours. This is evident when analyzing the novel Walking Naked by Alyssa Brugman where Megan Tuw's ignorance in walking naked leads to the downfall of her only real friend Perdita Wiguiggan, Megan's fabrication of deception is exposed by Katie Gattrell as a result of not walking naked and Megan is unbound from the chains that detained her by her ability to walk naked. The enterprise & opportunity gained when walking naked is also present when examining Disney's television show `The Weekenders,' (episode 11-Makeover) and Dale Wimbrow's poem `The Face in the Glass' where it can be clearly seen that those who do not successfully walk naked will endure hardships.
