Gun control is a topic much debated in the past few decades of American history. Those who are advocating gun control believe that guns create violence, are not protected by the constitution, and are not effective in the area of self-defense. These concepts are detrimental and need to be contradicted for the safekeeping of the American citizen's freedom. Every member of the United States populace must be aware that if gun control is allowed it is the beginning of the decline of the freedoms Americans now live with.

First, the reader must see that guns themselves do not create violence. Many pro-gun control people prove their belief that guns create violence by pointing out the scenario of the 1960s and early 1970s (Cothran 25).
