His older brother, Peter and older sister, Valentine showed promise, so the I.F. requested his birth. Ender was always left-out because he was a third and had a monitor (a device that allows the military to record your life). Ender was always afraid of his older brother because Peter resented him for being special. Valentine always cared for Ender and protected him from Peter.
