How Did the People of Russia View the Tsar? Why?
The Tsar was viewed with resentment. The Russian Empire was made up of people of over a hundred different races, religions and cultures. Less than half of Russia's population was made up of Russians therefore Russia was not a united country due to the divided loyalties of its people. These people saw themselves as separate countries and resented Russian rule.
The Russian people also detested the Tsar. At the time of his rule, ninety-five percent of Russia's population was living in poverty. There were many bad harvests and often, thousands would starve to death. Living and working conditions in tows were even more appalling. The Tsar knew about this but yet he did not to anything to try and improve the situation. He hardly came into contact with the commoners and chose instead, to ignore their sufferings. All...
