Type II Diabetes
Type II diabetes is a pancreatic disorder, known as non-insulin dependant diabetes (NIDD). It is found by taking a blood glucose test and an excess amount of glucose is detected within the blood, this condition is known as hyperglycemia. NIDD is the most common form of diabetes affecting nearly 90% of all diabetic patients17, 28, 30, 33. About 10-20 million people are affected by it in the US alone however many of them are unaware of it.33 The prevalence of diabetes has increase dramatically over the past 20 years due to changes in activity levels, lifestyles and diet. This form of diabetes usually has a maturity - onset meaning that most people develop this later in life usually around the age of 40 or older.
