"Of Mice and Men" by John Stienbeck is about a true friendship between George and Lennie. Lennie though large and mentally slow is kind hearted and means no harm. George entertains Lennie and himself with a story of a ranch that they will one day own. Though George knows that this is unlikely Lennie believes it full heartedly. Lennie though loving often is unaware of his own strength, which leads to the death of several mice and his puppy. He only wishes to pet them but squeezes too hard. This eventually leads to the accidental death of Curley's wife when she offers to let Lennie feel her hair. It is because of this incident that Curley and the other men decide that Lennie is dangerous and must be killed. George being the friend that he is feels it is his duty to save Lennie.
