He lived in Aberdeen for many years, with his mom, then his dad, and went back and forth, even living in the streets, in hotel hallways, in the backs of cars, even going as far as to sleep in churches to stay alive. Most of his teen and young adult life was spent homeless. For most of his life he knew he wanted to play guitar, and meant it. He and Krist Noveselic started playing together as friends with many friends that played drums, but soon decided to start a real band.
