Desegregation
Summary: The desegregation of public schools although not the first step in desegregation was one of the most valuable in the fight for civil rights and desegregation of all areas of life for the people.
The desegregation of public schooling was a positive step to the desegregation of all areas of life for the African Americans. It was the first step out of conflict that had been evident between the African Americans and Anglo people of America since 1676 when Nathaniel Bacon had African-Americans as slaves.
The main goal of the desegregation of public schooling can be linked to the idea that they needed to end racial isolation between the children at school and in the district as well as providing the children with the same resources. The precedent that the Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka case set outlawed segregation of government-run schools for blacks and whites ruling that the "separate but equal" doctrine in this case could not be met. This was the birth of the civil right movement in the United States of America.
