Huntington's Disease
Huntington's disease is a disease, which is proven to be inherited through genetics. It gets its name from the physician George Huntington who described the disease in around 1872. My essay will talk about this disease in detail and will also cover areas such as how common is it, treatments, associations helping people with this disease, and the effects that disease causes.
An abnormal gene located on chromosome 4, which is one of the human body's 24 chromosome pairs, causes Huntington's disease. This gene was discovered in 1993. The disease causes the changing of the gene "Huntingtin" which is located on the short arm of chromosome 4. The ones who suffer from this disease have errors on the coded bases that make up this gene's instructions. The gene has unusually long repeats of coded instructions made up from the basic chemicals cytosine, adenine, and guanine. This disorder will sooner or later...
