For the Majority of Women in the 1920's There Was an Increase in Opportunity
America during the 20's Essay
For the majority of women living in the 1920's could be said that there was an increase in opportunity, the chance to break free from the Victorian codes of practice and enjoy the "roaring twenties." This was a time of economic prosperity for America. Some people prospered from a steady rise in wages and effectively were able to, for the first time purchase a range of consumer goods that were manufactured by the new method of mass production. However not all Americans prospered from the American Boom and for the majority of women they missed out on opportunities available to the wealthy, urbanized, white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, ideal American woman. Not only was America a decade of prosperity, but it was also a decade of racial discrimination and hate, crime, corruption, prohibition (outlawing the sale of alcohol) and unequal distribution of wealth...
