Tell Tale Heart
Summary: Throughout "The Tell Tale Heart", Poe uses many of the essentials that set the tone, pace, mood, setting, foreshadow events, and do many other significant things in a story.
Edgar Allen Poe, one of the most infamous writers of all time, is a respected author but very mysterious to some. To some people he is the single most gifted writer at using an ingenious blend of mastered description. Poe uses extreme amount of figurative language, repetition, reference of time, and extremely descriptive and witty phrases. He pulls this off so successfully that he is known worldwide for his work. Throughout "The Tell Tale Heart", Poe uses many of the essentials that I will describe. These key things set the tone, pace, mood, setting, foreshadow events, and do many other significant things in a story.
Poe uses many descriptions and literary elements in this story but one that is accentuated is his "reference of time." "He moved slowly, very-very slowly" is a mere example of how Poe incorporates time into the tempo of the story. This continuous description...
