Idaho has had a large history of earthquakes over the years. Idaho has earned a number five rank on the list of most at risk of earthquake activity. Only California, Nevada, Utah, and Alaska have a greater overall hazard. Idaho has had two major earthquakes since the joining of the United States. The Borah Peak earthquake of 1983 was the largest in Idaho at a magnitude of 7.5.
The second largest earthquake to ever hit Idaho was the Hebgen Lake earthquake. It had a magnitude of 7.1 and caused 28 fatalities. This earthquake caused 11 million dollars in damage. The earthquake caused drop offs of mountains and shifts in rivers.
If a large earthquake hit Idaho I would suggest the people in the disaster to move to Mountain Home, Twin Falls or Boise. I chose Mountain Home as a relocation point because it has had almost no earthquake activity in over two hundred...
