Summary: While there are some similarities between the ancient Roman Empire and the current city of Rome, there are also differences. Having researched so much on the city, I can openly say that Rome has come a long way is for the most part no where near the same as the Empire of Rome. With that stated, Rome also has not changed entirely, there are certain aspects that are similar, for example the Roman Catholic Church acting the same way it has forever.

Comparing cities from any era is definitely not one of the easiest tasks. To compare two different cities from two different eras isn't a piece of cake either, but when you have the advantage of being able to write about a city from your first hand accounts, you come to appreciate the history of people and their cultural roots. Rome, the modern city and the ancient Empire. They are different yet strikingly similar and the current topic up for debate.
