Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild, recounts the mysterious journey of Chris McCandless, a young ambitious man whose actions lead to his baffling death. The protagonist despises his parents and decides to go on a dangerous adventure. After graduating from college, Chris, ashamed of his name, changes it to Alexander Supertramp and decides to embark on this quest. He explores North America with the goal of reaching Alaska and walking into the wild. He wants to live and try to survive in the blistering cold weather, traveling only by hitchhiking or by foot.

Along the road, Chris meets and befriends several people, keeping them posted on his travels. A while later, Chris, who reaches Alaska, is found dead in an abandoned bus.
