Although the American workday has changed slightly over time, it is still similar in structure to that of the past, and it has contributed greatly to America's success.
American Work Ethic

Americans are not overworked, they just strive to be the best and have a great work ethic. Americans have one of the greatest work ethics, and its structure traces back hundreds of years to Ben Franklin's published itinerary. The average American workday, though it may be longer than it was in the past, it is much easier and less stressful. The amount American's work shows that American's want to be the best and they are willing to work for it.

Since the time of Franklin, the average workday has gotten longer, but it has been made much easier due to computer programs, cars, telephones and other electronic devices.
