We Have More to Fear from the State Than from Terrorists
The post modern era has been witness to a number of atrocities that have taken place as a direct result of States committing crimes against humanity, whether they be the deprivation of basic freedoms like those of speech and thought, arbitrarily arresting or detaining civilians, taking away a humans right to life, subjecting prisoners to torture or carrying out mass murder and genocide. In recent years a series of terrorist attacks around the world have added to hysteria concerning the formation of terrorist groups and the emerging threat of terrorism. Which raises the question: Do we have more to fear from the State than from terrorists?
