Summary: A plot summary of "Forbidden City," the story of a teen-age boy and his father from Canada in China at the time of the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989.
Alex Jackson, a seventeen-year-old boy from Canada, had no idea his life was about to change. When he closed the front door after arriving home from school, his dad, Ted Jackson, a cameraman for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, was waiting for him. He asked Alex if he would like to join him and his partner, Eddie Nowlan on an assignment in China. With Alex's obsession of Chinese history, he knew that this was a once in a lifetime offer and that he could not turn it down. `Absolutely' was the only word Alex could utter.

Landing in Beijing, Alex could not believe he was really in China. Walking through the airport, Alex noticed a tall, thin, Chinese man with a long face and a sharp hooked nose, holding a sign that read, "Jackson."
