Hamlet's Character
Summary: An examination of the changes in Hamlet's character that take place throughout the play. At first lacking in confidence and unsure of himself, and seemingly crossing the line between sanity and madness during the play, Hamlet in the end displays his confidence and knowledge of what to do.
In the beginning of the play we see Hamlet as unsure of himself, he doesn't really know where to go after his father has died and still is in mourning over his father. He is mad at his mom for marrying so fast after his father died. Hamlet did not think that she had mourned long enough. Horatio speaks 1.2.175 "My lord, I came to see you father's funeral" Hamlet replies 1.2.176-177 "I pray thee, do not mock me, fellow student. I think it was to see my mother's wedding" 1.2.179-180 "The funeral baked meats did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables." As you can see Hamlet is clearly upset about this rushed marriage.
