As years go by, society can state that many conflicts today and in history are a result of religion. This topic is deeply exposed throughout the novel Bless Me, Ultima, by Rudolfo Anaya. Antonio, the main character and protagonist of this novel deals with the result of conflicts due to religion. This is because he is continually pulled between his parents due to their differences in religious beliefs. This enforces emotional, internal, stress within the character Tony, as he grows from age six into his adolescence years.
Tony's mother is a very religious Catholic, while his father is vaquero, a cowboy.
