The word Church, as it is normally used, has two different meanings. On one hand it could mean a particular building that people worship in, or it could mean an organisation. It is the second meaning that is commonly used by contemporary sociologists.

Churches just like organisations are big. They tend to have to have a large number of followers or members, sometimes even in several different countries.
