A Tale of Two Cities Thesis Paper
Everyday 24,000 people die around the world. 9 million people die every year, because they don't have anything to eat. No one thinks of these suffering people as they go to their graves at an early age. Charles Dickens in his novel, A Tale of Two Cities, uses a broken cask, grave robbing, and usurpation to show survival instinct dominates the impoverished.
In A Tale of Two Cities, a large cask of wine dropped and broke in the street. All the people within reach had suspended their business to run to the spot and drink the wine. Charles Dickens wrote "Men and women dipped in the puddles with little mugs of mutilated earthenware, or even with handkerchiefs from women's heads, which were squeezed dry into infants' mouths"(36).
