Data Collection

2CrO42-(aq) + 2H+(aq) ↔ Cr2O72-(aq) + H2O Reaction 1

Br2(aq) + H2O ↔ Br-¬¬¬(aq)¬ + BrO-(aq) + 2H+(aq) Reaction 2

Co(H2O)42+(aq) + 4Cl-(aq) ↔ (CoCl4)2-(aq) Reaction 3

Reaction Observations

1 Initial color = yellow

I added 7 drops of HCl instead to make it orange. The color was not exactly orange but close.

Then, I added 6 drops of NaOH to make it go back to yellow and it worked.

  1. Initial color = yellowish-brown
  2. drops of 3M NaOH worked and made the solution colorless.
Then, 5 drops of 3M HCl worked and made the solution yellowish-brown.

3 Initial color = pink

Adding HCl and NaCl(aq) to the solution also adds water.

6 drops of 0.1M Co(NO3)2 + 15 drops of concentrated HCl turned the solution to blue but not completely.

Then, 5 drops of 3M AgNO3 caused the reverse reaction by turning the solution to pink.
