(American Heritage Dictionary, P. 141) In the novel The Mouse That Roars, the characters live in the small country of Grand Fenwick, which does not really exist. The country is used to represent any smaller country in the world that is being affected by capitalism in the world's powerful nations. The country of Grand Fenwick is struggling to make money; they hear that the U.S. government sponsors programs to help countries in Eastern Europe make the transition to capitalism and democracy.
